O’ Callaghan’s Mills GAA Club Case Study

Objectives

O’ Callaghan’s Mills approached BBnet as they needed to get internet connectivity and Wi-Fi coverage for their GAA Club building. As they are in a rural area, fibre broadband was not an option for them. They were also struggling with poor mobile phone coverage in the building so it was important for them to get a reliable connection.

Solutions

BBnet has a wireless transmitter located near the client’s base, this meant our fixed wireless service was an ideal solution.

BBnet engineers were on site within days to complete the installation and get the
service activated. The client is now
supplied with our BBnet Jet + service with up to 100Mb download speeds.

3 access points were also installed
throughout the building to provide Wi-Fi
coverage to areas including the gym, hall, meeting rooms and handball court.

Conclusion

BBnet’s internet and Wi-Fi solution not only allows GAA club members to
connect to the internet, it is also used for the local tidy towns committee
and 12 O’ Clock hills group. BBnet’ s connectivity also enables matches to be streamed online and online match reports to be prepared. The gym also
has Wi-Fi access for anyone using the gym for personal training or group sessions run by East Clare Fitness.

Gaelic Games, we have a gym, a hall, meeting rooms and a handball court. The hall is used for Irish dancing classes, summer camps, age action exercise classes and group gatherings. Our meeting room is used by the GAA, handball, Tidy Towns and the 12 O’
Clock Hills Group. All using our facilities now have access to excellent high speed broadband. This year, during our 100 year anniversary celebrations we hosted the Clare Cup Final at our grounds. For this Clare GAA TV required broadband of high
quality and sufficient upload speed to live stream the game. We were delighted that BBnet’s service could provide this and the Final which we won, was streamed live to our supporters to enjoy, from Kilkishen to Korea!

East Clare Fitness also run personal training and group sessions from our gym and again BBnet broadband facilitates this, from using Wi-Fi for online booking or simply
for listening to music in the gym. The handball club are hosting the National Handball Championships in the alley and again, BBnet Wi-Fi for reporting on finals and
connecting with handball clubs all over the country over the weekend. All in all, O’Callaghan’s Mills GAA is very grateful to BBnet for their continued support and helping us to connect with our community. We would hope we can continue our relationship for a long time to come.
