The Challenge: From One Building to a Whole Campus
The project began with a simple request — bring dedicated internet connectivity into one building. However, as demand grew, BBnet’s role expanded significantly. Today, we provide:
Dedicated fibre connectivity to all buildings on campus
Campus-wide Wi-Fi for both tenants and visitors
Improved mobile phone coverage through the installation of mobile phone repeaters
This ensures that businesses at Westpark can operate with zero downtime, uninterrupted productivity, and a truly world-class digital infrastructure.
The Solution: Fibre Diversity, Seamless Wi-Fi, and Mobile Phone Coverage
To guarantee resilience and high performance, BBnet implemented a multi-layered connectivity strategy:
Dedicated Fibre Feeds: BBnet brought multiple fibre connections from major backbones including Enet, Openeir, and BT into the main data centre at Building A. These diverse fibre paths provide a robust infrastructure with seamless failover in the event of an outage.
National Fibre Ring: With BBnet’s own fibre ring running to CIX in Cork and Equinix in Dublin, Westpark enjoys unmatched routing flexibility and resilience.
Inter-Building Connectivity: Fibre was extended underground from Building A to B, and from B to C, ensuring all three buildings are connected with dedicated, cost-effective broadband. Tenants can access dedicated connections quickly and competitively.
Campus-Wide Wi-Fi: Public spaces including receptions, meeting rooms, and restaurants now benefit from strong, reliable Wi-Fi access for both tenants and visitors.
Enhanced Mobile Phone Coverage: In one building where mobile phone signal had been poor, BBnet installed mobile phone repeaters. These devices capture and amplify external mobile signals, providing strong, reliable coverage for employees and visitors across all major mobile networks.
